thank god I wasn’t trying to turn thru the light with other cars maybe merging with me, I’d have gotten HIT for sure. When I tried to move thru the intersection it BARELY moved forward and had cars behind me honking. I gimped it off the highway and rolled up to a stop light. Had a couple of times where it was slipping and then reached a total trans failure where I was on the highway going 50 and the tach was at 4,500 without shifting up. 2014 Escape Titanium with 77,500 miles, outside of warranty of course. we have this thing for a few years yet.Ĭlick to expand. So I’m having the same issues as discussed here. I have noticed that there are a few others with transmission problems in a similar vein - I hope it's not indicative of a general design flaw. I can post later with the exact details of what was done regarding the problem 2 months ago. Recently it has happened about 3 times in a day of driving around. The technicians had no difficulty reproducing it. The first time this issue came up it was easily repeatable almost every time. There is no indication when it is going to happen, but it seems to happen more frequently. This is obviously dangerous at an intersection, especially when attempting to turn left at a stop light. Releasing the accelerator and reapplying does not fix the problem - at least not immediately. Although, the original issue did happen in straight line once or twice. It may be coincidence, but we are usually turning. The feeling is sickening - I can only imagine what's happening to the transmission when this clunk hits. After a few seconds of this it will make a massive clunk into gear and start pulling forward once again. We have experienced it even rolling backwards on occasion. When accelerating from a stop, or from a very low speed, the transmission will slip - revving but staying at 1500 rpm. We have an appointment set up to look again, but in the meantime the situation is fairly dangerous for my wife when driving the vehicle. It seemed to have fixed the problem until the last couple of days when it has cropped up again. They had to replace a part that controls the shift solenoids (I think). They kept the vehicle for a few days and apparently found the problem inside the transmission. and took it back to the dealer to have it looked at. So we had transmission problems the day after purchase. We also purchased an extended warranty for an additional 80k. My wife bought a 2013 Ford Escape SE 2.0 AWD just over 2 months ago with 79k (KM) on the odometer. I just wish it was under better circumstances. I am happy to be a new member of the forum.
