Storyboard artists have different goals in different industries: For motion pictures, some filmmakers, directors, and producers choose to use clip-art computer programs designed to create storyboards, programs such as StoryBoard Quick, StoryBoard Artist or Toon Booms, or use a dedicated 3D Storyboarding Software program such as the Emmy® Award Winning FrameForge 3D Studio, or a more multi-purpose 3D program Poser and DAZ Studio which can also be used to create elements of the storyboards. Many storyboard artists nowadays begin and finish their work on computers using software and digital pencils like Wacom tablet. Some frequently used drawing applications are Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop. Typically freelance storyboard artists will belong to one or more storyboard agencies much like an illustration agency. They are mostly freelance artists, typically hired by art directors and film directors. Quick pencil drawings and marker renderings are two of the most common traditional techniques, although nowadays Flash, Photoshop, and other storyboard applications are gradually taking over. A storyboard artist visualizes stories and sketches frames of the story on paper. A storyboard will also help me to look at my different ideas clearly and see how they will pan out, enabling me to choose the most effective idea for my project and the most effective narrative.Ī storyboard artist, or story artist, creates storyboards for advertising agencies and film productions. I will produce a number of these within my work to help me come up with the most effective compositions for my work and to enhance my narrative for my audience. Storyboards help people to show the stages of work and how their composition is going to pan out throughout it, this will in turn help me to plan out my book and what is going to be on each page and what the specific compositions will be. It helps them to clearly show the stages of their ideas and the composition of them that can then go onto the illustrators to interpret into a film/advert etc. Storyboards also help concept artists get their idea across to their business/firm. Storyboards come in many forms, children books, teenage books, short stories, comics etc.
